The hours slipped from my fingers as another day had passed. It was the moment that shock had slapped me in the face. “HELP! The rare karate belt is missing!” Evan screeched. This was the first time I had seen Evan have emotions. Most of the time he had the same dull expression. “Wait. The rarest karate belt in the entire history, in the entire world has gone MISSING!?” I shouted. “Yes! The instructor trusted me with that and it’s gone missing!” Evan wailed. Immediately, he burst out into uncontrollable sobs. In my studies, instructors crying is just plain awkward. You just don’t know what to say.

RING RING! The telephone rang as Evan picked it up. Moments later I heard my actual instructors usual deep voice. “AGH! I EARNED THAT BELT FROM MY COMPETITION! WHO STOLE IT? WHEN I FIND OUT I WILL AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!” he boomed as I heard a piece of wood snap. Everybody gulped and went as pale as a ghost. The room filled with mumbles and gasps as I noticed a trail of black flakes. That’s when I realised it was from the belt! It must have been so old, some of its fabric had worn off.

Evan was completely zoned out while everyone else was trying to figure out where the belt had gone. Nervously, I approached Evan and suggested what we should do to get the belt back. “Um, Evan? I think maybe we can follow the trail to find the rare belt.” I suggested. Leaping into the air, a wide grin spread from ear to ear. “Everybody, listen up! How about we clean up the trail and you chase the horse while I build my steel pillow. How does that sound? Brilliant? Let’s get to it.” he concluded. Everybodys mind had gone blank. I opened my mouth but no words were able to come out. Confused by Evans suggestion we began to do what he said. What is he thinking?! How are we going to find the belt with his type of advice?!
