If you’re excited about making art, this is the perfect club for you!  

Hosted by Rachel, our art educator, each session is playful, creative and interactive.  

Sessions run after school on Thursdays from 4 pm to 5 pm. There are three online sessions per term. Scroll further down the page to view session dates for this term.

Animal Elements

So many interesting animals are hiding in the Library. From cats and dogs to elephants and sea monsters, animals appear in every corner of the collection. This term in Art Club, we’ll create animal artworks using the elements of art.

Session One

SHAPE

This week we look at the element of shape and how simple shapes can be used to make complex drawings. Using animal illustrations from the Library’s collection as inspiration, we will learn the fundamentals of drawing animals.

Session Two

COLOUR

We will explore the power of colour in this week’s Art Club. Colour is everywhere in the Library’s collection, and we will learn how to be inspired by colour palettes from artworks, objects and photographs for use in our own artworks.

Session Three

TEXTURE

Our final Art Club of the term will be all about texture. We will zoom into the Library’s collection to see how simple lines and marks can be used to create furry, feathered or scaley animal textures. We will add the final layer to our animal mixed media artwork using coloured pencil.
