Week 1: The Committee
The School Fundraising Committee met in the library’s back room. The atmosphere was a mix of excitement and tension as each member settled into their chairs.
Ken was the first to arrive, slumping into a chair with a sigh. He liked to fish on weekends, but sometimes he got a bit annoying with his constant fishing stories. Ken often found himself lost in thought, staring out the window rather than paying attention.
Dan shuffled in next, clutching a thick book. He had a serious look on his face and often missed what was happening around him.
Joe strolled in next, looking bored. He wore a T-shirt with a lazy sloth on it. Joe loved reading, often choosing to sit quietly rather than actively participate.
Jessy followed, her bubbly personality lighting up the room. She wore a colourful sweater and carried a notepad filled with ideas. She was always ready to help and never had a bad thing to say about anyone.
Alyssa crept in last, her dark clothes contrasting sharply with Jessy’s brightness. With an evil glint in her eyes, she was an introvert who liked painting creepy things. Alyssa was always putting others down and often showed her dislike for those she thought were annoying.
John, the chairperson, finally took charge, standing up at the front. He was caring and supportive, with a kind smile. “Alright, everyone! I’m excited to kick off our planning for the Pumpkin Competition! We’ll be growing pumpkins and having fun activities to raise money for our school. I think we should have markets, pumpkin judging, and maybe even some dancers!”
Dan nodded. “I agree! But we should also have a big pumpkin filled with educational stuff. You know, something to teach people while they enjoy the event.”
Joe chimed in, “How about a petting area for pumpkins? Just think of all the cute pumpkin-themed decorations we could have!”
Jessy smiled. “I love that idea! And I think we should have pumpkin-growing and eating competitions! Everyone loves a good challenge!”
Alyssa crossed her arms, her tone sarcastic. “I say we cancel it. It’s a terrible idea and super boring. Hehehe.” She shot a glance at Dan and John, clearly enjoying their discomfort.
Ken, trying to find his place, mumbled, “Um, can we have fishing there too? We could fish pumpkins, right?” He looked hopeful, but the others just blinked at him.
Joe rolled his eyes. “Fishing for pumpkins? Seriously?”
“Why not?” Ken shrugged, defending his idea. “It could be fun!”
Jessy chuckled. “I think it’s a silly idea, but I love your enthusiasm, Ken! We can all come up with something creative.”
John smiled, trying to keep the peace. “Let’s brainstorm more ideas and see how we can make this event awesome for everyone!”
As the meeting continued, the room buzzed with voices, some friendly and others a bit snarky. Each member brought their ideas to the table and together tried to decide how to make the pumpkin fundraiser a success.

Week 2: The mole
Dear Diary, today I decided it’s time to get serious and help Harry Penny sabotage the fundraiser. It's all about getting a better job, after all. I've already come up with a few creative ways to derail the whole thing. First on the list? Bribing the police. If I pay them enough, they’ll ignore any trouble at the event—whether it's fights, fires, or any other chaos. Who’s going to stop it? Not the cops, that’s for sure.
Then, I've got some more interesting ideas. The pumpkins. Oh, the pumpkins. They’ll be the centrepiece of the event. But no one’s going to enjoy them for long. I’ll poison them, just to make things a little more memorable. And why stop there? I’ll plant some bombs too. Nothing too crazy, just a few carefully placed devices to make sure things get really out of hand.
I’m already feeling good about this—heh heh. I hate the school, I hate the committee members, and how they all dismissed my fishing idea. I particularly hate how they all go on about “petting pumpkins” and “fundraising for the children.” It’s all a joke. The best part? I get to have fun while I mess it all up.
First step tomorrow? Bribe the police to keep their distance from any trouble at the event. It’ll be easy. Once they’re out of the picture, everything else will fall into place.

Week 3: Pumpkin Competition Sabotage

The day of the pumpkin competition arrived. Ken woke early with the sun shining brightly through his bedroom window. He was nervous with anticipation. He drove to the police station down the road. He walked over to a wall duffle bag in hand and he placed it on the ground. He walked over to his car then he saw a man in police outfit Ken nodded to him and drove to the event area.
Ken smiled and moved past the sleepy security guards. The first part of his plan was done: the pumpkins were on display. He had to act quickly before the anybody saw him.
Then, he sneaked past the security guards at the event, ready for his next move. Meanwhile, Alyssa gets suspicious when she finds letters addressed to Henry Penny that had detailed plans to sabotage the event.

Ken attempts to poison the pumpkins and succeeds but accidentally scratches his face then licks his hand he had drunk some of the poison himself. Now, he needs to find an antidote for the poison but lucky he finds it in his car. Alyssa enters the area and sees broken glass with purple liquid on the floor. She also finds out that the poison is the same one detailed in the letters. Alyssa starts thinking about why someone might want to ruin their event.

She considers a few people of being the saboteur.
Ken: He hates pumpkins but has a strange fascination with poison. Could he be desperate enough to ruin the event for his own twisted amusement?
Dan: He hates big crowds and enjoys annoying people. Perhaps he wanted to avoid the hassle of managing the event.
Jessy: Friendly and kind, but a bit eccentric. Her obsession with helping people and odd remarks about food made Alyssa wonder if she might be involved in some bizarre scheme.
Joe: He hates work and would do anything to get out of it.
John: A talented artist but deeply introverted. His disdain for public attention and his creepy sketches made Alyssa uneasy.

Ken wasn’t finished. Later that day Ken plants five bombs in the storage room but has trouble getting them to work. He planned to detonate them during the awards ceremony, creating chaos and ensuring the event’s failure. However, setting up the bombs proved trickier than he had anticipated. One device wouldn’t arm properly, and Ken cursed under his breath as he flipped through the manual he had brought with him.

His frustration mounted as a guard entered the room, flashlight sweeping across the shelves. Ken quickly hid in an empty box, holding his breath as the guard lingered. Minutes felt like hours, but eventually, the guard left. Ken emerged, finishing the setup before retreating to his hiding spot.
Ken spots a big black car coming up the road. Ken watches from the storage room window and sees the mayor step out with two big, buff bodyguards following behind him. Ken thinks that he will have to kill the mayor to make Henry Penny happy.

As Ken prepared to act, Alyssa burst into the storage room. She confronts Ken and asks him if he knows anything about the poison. Ken’s face paled, but he quickly recovered. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said smoothly. “Maybe you should ask Dan. He’s been acting strange all day. Maybe he’s the one trying to sabotage everything.”
Alyssa frowned, unconvinced. She glanced at the window, where the mayor’s car was still visible. The pieces of the puzzle were coming together, but she needed proof before making her next move.
Week 4: Pumpkin Event Chaos
Alyssa, skeptical of Ken’s excuses, walked away but paused at the corner. Something about his demeanour didn’t sit right. Peeking back, she saw him pull out a homemade sniper rifle and take aim—at the mayor.
Her heart raced. Without hesitation, Alyssa sprinted back, tackling Ken to the ground just as he steadied his aim. The rifle clattered to the floor, and Alyssa wrestled it out of his grasp. “Help!” she screamed, her voice echoing across the event grounds.
The committee members and security guards came running. John, ever calm, was the first to speak. “Ken, what is this?” he asked, gesturing to the weapon.
Jessy, wide-eyed and pale, sat down heavily on a nearby chair. “I… I can’t believe this.”
Ken struggled against the guards, shouting, “Let me go! You don’t understand!”
Alyssa, catching her breath, pointed firmly at him. “He planned this. The poison, the bombs, everything. Take him away!”
The guards restrained Ken and escorted him off the premises. His protests faded as the group watched him disappear into the distance.
Despite the chaos, the Pumpkin Competition carried on. Guests laughed and danced, oblivious to the earlier commotion. The aroma of freshly baked pumpkin treats filled the air, mingling with the sound of cheerful chatter.
As night fell, the event concluded with a dazzling display of fireworks and pumpkin cannons firing into the sky. The crowd erupted in applause.
At the end of the evening, the committee members took the stage to bow, their relief evident but masked by proud smiles. John stepped forward, thanking everyone for their support.
Then, with dramatic flair, the mayor emerged. Climbing onto an imaginary horse, he waved his hat and shouted, “Yee-haw!” five times before galloping off into the night.
