The C.S.C.
Chapter 1
“ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Welcome to the first meeting of the Crocodile Saving Committee!” blasts Lucas Fisher through the megaphone. Quite a way to grab someone’s attention. But then again, obtaining attention was always his thing. “I am Lucas Fisher and joining us as the C.E.O. and co-founder is none other than Luke Reeder!” continues Lucas. Lucas is an incredibly sporty person, especially, mostly due to the presence of his immense height, basketball. His wittiness is particularly useful in situations like these where gaining attention is key. His blonde-goldish hair and unusual body shape that looks like he’s been spaghettified really stand out from the crowd.
“Thank you, Luke. Now as you know, we will try to relocate crocodiles into private areas with donuts!” Lucas and Luke have been best friends since they first met. Lucas is creative, always thinking three kilometres outside of the box, having ideas that seem destined for failure, but (mostly) prove successful. Lucas plays many instruments like viola, trumpet, French horn, drums, but his favourite of them all is of course trombone. His light-brown hair and slightly under average height make him blend in, although that falls through in creativity “Although I do have a little problem with the toppings…”
“What about we use bagels instead?” suggests Lucas. “Perfect idea! I completely forgot about bagels.” replies Luke. “Hang on. How are you two entirely sure that the bagels aren’t too expensive, don’t expire, don’t run out or get stolen? And how do you know that this idea will even have a slither of a chance that bagels will even be useful to tame or relocate crocodiles? I need to see!” says Emily Reeder.
“No, you don’t. Everything’s fine, Emily.” is Lucas’s reply. “Yes. I. Do!!” Emily, Lucas’s younger sister, is always brave, courageous and standing up for anyone possible. She always wants fully to know that everything is fine, working and true. However, she exceptionally enjoys yoga and relaxation. She has slightly-darker-than-Lucas’s brown, curly hair that don’t exactly match her personality. “If you two don’t step up, our quartet will easily kick you out and take over!”
“Okay, Emily. Luke and I will completely step out of this and you four will run this how you prefer!” sarcastically says Lucas.
“You mean, you three. I’m open to anything as long as I can play footy.” Harold Imbord is an incredibly lazy person. He lies on the sofa the whole day, eating Maccas and gaining even more unnecessary fat. The only sport that he sometimes plays is AFL, but even that’s more of a television obsession. His fair orange hair is the only thing that doesn’t make you question his diet and exercise. “Or sit on the couch. Why do I have to do this, anyway?” “Because we think this is a really good idea for business,” explains Luke, “and you people are the only ones we know would commit to this. Isn’t that right, Mia?”
“Wha-What?” Mia replied. Lucas sighed. Mia was daydreaming again. If only there was a job for it. Mia was always thinking about clouds or rabbits or whatnot and loved a yoga session. It was hard to get her attention, something only her twin sister could do. “What were we talking about?” “Not again, Mia. Can you just not wool-gather* for once?” Lucas is annoyed. “Don’t you dare talk to Martha’s twin sister!” hissed Emily. “She has full power to relax!”
*An expression that means to daydream.
“Okay, okay. I’ll get off her back but get off mine, okay?” Lucas’s frustration is worsening. “Martha, do you want to add something.” “Yeah, well, what if, we, like, um, never mind.” Martha was incredibly, incredibly, incredibly shy. She got hyper nervous from just a small speech. She would only ever feel comfortable talking to her sister, to which she looked identical. Same eyes, same golden long hair, same everything! “Oh actually, can I, um, like, just if we, um, like, never mind.”
“Guys, I’m not sure I can do this. This is too hard!” whinges Harold after they revised the capturing strategy, the relocating strategy and the way to get the bagels out (don’t ask).
“Harold, you are the only people I know.” Lucas is almost at the peak of anger. “This means a lot to me, so please-
“Harold can do what he wants!” screams Emily.
“Harold wants to be with ME!” yells Lucas.
“NO, he doesn’t!!!!”
“YES, HE DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
A long silence follows.
“Well, if no one has anything to say, our forty-five minutes are up.” Lucas starts back the conversation. Harold leaves first. Then Martha, carrying Mia, who’s still daydreaming. Emily goes away, still furious with Lucas. Finally, Lucas and Luke walk back to their homes.
