At the animal shelter, people are planning a fundraiser to help the animals. The committee gathers in a colourful room filled with the sounds of barking dogs and posters of cats and dogs on the walls. Mike is already there, secretly playing video games on the computer. He's kind but lazy and somehow became the chairperson.
Ava, who loves running and speaking, rushes into the office wearing her Crocs. Polly sneaks in too; she loves art and wants to share an idea about animals. Mike notices her walk in and nods at her. Lily enters after her friend Polly; she's creative and loves art. Dan walks in grumpily, carrying cakes he baked and places them down on the desk for everyone to share. Mark follows him in, looking anxious and holding a bird-watching book.
Everyone sits down, and Mike stands up to speak. "Hello everyone, welcome to the first meeting of the Animal Shelter Fundraising Committee. Does anyone have ideas?"
Ava suggests sponsoring a fun run with their pets. Polly quietly says, "No. I don't think that is a good idea. I think we should sell artworks of animals." Lily agrees loudly, adding that they should have a market with food trucks and asks to be in charge of them. Dan loudly suggests a baking contest.
Mark nervously adds more ideas: including pet supply stalls, someone teaching pet tricks, and setting up bird-watching decks.
Ava is upset because no one liked her idea, and in her diary, she writes about it. "At the meeting today, everyone's ideas were accepted, except mine. Everyone dismissed my great idea of a fun run. Mine was the best idea, and everyone else is mean and stupid. I am so angry that I'm going to let out all the shelter animals and have them run through the event and mess up the artwork and market stalls. I hope no one reads this."
"My first act of sabotage will be to ruin the baking contest. I'm going to sneak into the kitchen and sprinkle salt all over the cakes." Note to reader: Ava doesn't realise there are cameras in the kitchen.
