Soon, the day had ended and the sun rose up once more. School went by as usual. I walked down the street for my karate lesson as usual. And the instructor was there as usual- Wait. WHERE WAS THE INSTRUCTOR?! Instead Evan Black (the strange kid) arrives on the back of a lion wearing a sparkly pink karate uniform. At school today I heard rumors that he's the first instructor to have us thrown on the ground. One of my classmates asked me if his nunchucks are really that dangerous. Plus he’s the only person who keeps a pet lion. My mum says he reminds her of a myth about a ghost.
Reaching into his backpack he pulled out a clipboard with a piece of paper that looked like a checklist. “Ahem. May I have your attention? Your regular instructor is away so I will be filling in for him. He has left this checklist for us to complete. We must be able to cooperate with everyone while cleaning up the room. Practice all the techniques. And perfect punches and kicks.” he stated dully.
His dark eyes seemed to be staring straight at my soul. I felt a lump in my throat as my heart pounded. Eventually the silence broke off and he continued explaining as if he was an expert. Still, something about him seemed really off. Especially when he pulled out a boxing glove to clean up the room and a sponge to perfect punches and kicks! Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
We continued the lesson anyway. His teaching skills were okay when we were practicing our techniques. My bones ached as sweat dripped down my forehead. I was exhausted, but I knew we still had two other things to tick off the crucial list. Evan was starting to turn out into a pretty smart guy. He explained we could use the sponge to perfect our punches and kicks by punching and kicking the sponge. It was hard work as the sponges were quite small and slippery. Next he explained that we would dip the boxing glove in soapy water and rub against the floor to clean the room.
Once the class had finished and checked everything off the list it was time to go home. My body longed for a shower as my stomach begged for food. As I was packing up my bag I heard a loud BANG. SMASH! The door burst open as a horse with a carrot attached to its forehead covered in glitter comes rushing through! If things weren’t weird enough today! Evan sprinted towards the horse as he began to boot the horse whilst complimenting its pretty glitter. Once he had freed the room of the crazy horse and the shock had disappeared from everyone I was finally able to go home.
