Chapter 1
On a tiring summer day, an eleven year old gymnast called Avalyn Right was on holiday with her family, but she was so bored!
“When will I get off this island!” she thought out loud.
“Avalyn,” her mum called, “If you’re so bored, why don’t you go explore in the forest?”
“Ok then I will,” said Avalyn rolling her eyes, and off she went into the forest mumbling to herself.
Suddenly she heard eerie noises of the wind howling through the trees. She felt a strange urge to break past the vines in front of her. Avalyn struggled through but managed to make an opening just big enough to roll through. As she looks up, she sees mysterious carvings an ancient writing. “Is this an abandoned library?” Avalyn said shockingly. She rubbed her eyes and gasped in disbelief. She felt shocked but also curious “Am I dreaming?” she exclaimed. “When did this happen? Am I the first one to see this?” she gasped “WHAT IS HAPPENING!”
As Avalyn calmed down, she got out her journal from the maroon backpack she always carries around and started taking detailed notes of what she saw. Looking around, she feels the urge to go into the building but hesitates, looking at all the overgrown vines on the ruined, mysterious library. After stopping to think she think, she goes in but after looking around she slowly regrets it. All the books were falling apart or torn up.
Suddenly she heard her father calling her name in a worried voice. She rushes out and picks up a random bookmark off the floor. As she placed it carefully in her backpack, she felt strange as if the library had been waiting for her.
