The lane was about to land in Australia. Shaun, the pilot, informed all the passengers. The co-pilot, Tim, got up, put his sweaty hand on Shaun's shoulder and muttered, “Great job”, before walking off out of the plane.
“Oh man!” Shaun said. “I was sitting on my phone all this time.” He turned it on to see if it still worked and luckily it did. He put his phone in his pocket and walked off the plane, not realising it had fallen out!
“Ah, Shaun, the best pilot in the airport”, the gate manager said as he greeted Shaun enthusiastically.
“Possibly even the best in the country”, Shaun added as a little joke. He scratched his itchy beard and took his hat off, revealing a distinctive grey streak in his dark brown hair.
On the other side of town, Jimmy awoke to his alarm going off. “I'm late!” he yelled as he threw off his pyjamas, slipped on his jeans, a t-shirt and a jacket, then ran outside with a huge pre-packed suitcase. “Taxi! Taxi!” he shouted as one stopped in front of him. Throwing his suitcase through the open rear window, he jumped into the cab! “To the airport please!” he exclaimed and the taxi took off. Meanwhile, lost somewhere near Arrivals, Jimmy saw a man with a red bow tie who looked like he worked there. “Maybe he will know where I need to go”, Jimmy wondered, but before he could tap the man's shoulder, he turned around and said with relief,
“Ah, you're here. Come on, come on! You must hurry!”
“But I...”
“Yes yes, yes yes, the weather is lovely. Now come on!” Jimmy could do nothing but follow the man, since he had a firm grip around Jimmy's wrist. The man lead him to a room with flight attendants and other people wearing business suits. They were all sitting at a long table and the tall man at the end said quite seriously, “Hello, I have called this meeting because Shaun will have to fly without a co-pilot today. Usually I wouldn't allow it, but on this plane there are a lot of rich people who will be paying us a lot of money! Frank's out with a hernia and poor Tim's suddenly come down with the flu.”
The tall man looked directly up at Jimmy and said, “Do you think you're up for the challenge?” The man with the bow tie who had led him here handed Jimmy a captain's hat. As his eyes widened, Jimmy quietly said “Oh no”...
