Examining the object:

With a sense of anticipation, Alex carefully unzipped his bag and reached inside. His fingers brushed against the familiar texture of the special item, and he gently pulled it out, a look of relief and joy spreading across his face.

Time travel:

Alex stood in the dimly lit study, the amulet resting in their palm. The carvings on the amulet seemed to pulse with a faint, otherworldly light. Alex had spent weeks deciphering the ancient texts they found alongside the amulet in the ruins. According to the texts, the amulet had the power to manipulate time, but only if used correctly.

Taking a deep breath, Alex placed the amulet on the centre of an old, dusty map spread out on the table. The map depicted the world as it was centuries ago, with landmarks and locations long forgotten. Alex carefully aligned the amulet with a specific point on the map, as described in the texts.

With a sense of anticipation, Alex began to chant the incantation they had memorised. The words felt strange on their tongue, as if they were not meant to be spoken by modern voices. As the final syllable left their lips, the gemstone in the amulet flared brightly, filling the room with a blinding light.

Alex felt a sudden, intense pull, as if they were being yanked through the fabric of reality itself. The room around them dissolved into a swirling vortex of colours and shapes. Moments later, the chaos subsided, and Alex found themselves standing in the same study, but everything was different. The furniture was new, the air smelled fresher, and outside the window, the world looked like it did centuries ago.

The amulet had worked. Alex had travelled back in time.
