A world without humans

Begin your story set in the animal kingdom. Include:

  • A description of the habitat where the action will take place
  • A description of your main character engaging in everyday life
  • You characters as either naturalistic animals or animals behaving and dressing like humans
  • References to other characters within the setting, as either friends, enemies or just co-existing 

Coming in for landing

Submit your complete space story. Include:

  • A heroic space crew who live in a state-of-the-art space station (Week 1)
  • A villain, their evil plan, and their even more powerful spaceship (Week 2)
  • An epic space battle, where they villain seems to overpower the heroes until… (Week 3)
  • The heroes deploy a secret weapon to attack the enemy’s greatest weakness and win the battle (Week 4)
  • The heroes celebrate their win, surrounded by scenes of destruction (Week 4)

Quirky characters

Write an introductory scene where your main character is on their way to their regular after-school activity.

Along the way, they see an unusual person behaving strangely.

Include:

  • What activity is your character going to? Where is it held and who else will be there?
  • What does your character expect to happen in today’s activity with the regular instructor?
  • What is the unusual person doing and why does it catch your main character’s attention?

Power trip

Write a scene where your character discovers the perks of the job they’ve started to do.

Include :

  • The tangible and intangible perks of the job
  • A personal problem they realise they can solve using the powers of the VIP’s job
  • How your character changes and goes ‘and with power’ as they make increasing use of the powers and perks of the job
